Tissue C/S for AFB
The Tissue Culture/Sensitivity (C/S) for Acid-Fast Bacilli (AFB) is a test to detect tuberculosis (TB) and other mycobacterial infections. A sample of tissue is collected from an infected area. The lab cultures the sample to identify the presence of AFB. Preparation generally involves no special instructions, but fasting may be required in some cases. Risks are minimal, limited to the sample collection. Results show the presence of AFB, and if detected, drug sensitivity tests determine effective antibiotics. Conditions like contamination or insufficient sample size can affect results. Expect results in 1-6 weeks.1200 BDT
