CT Scan of Sacro-Cocegeal Region

A CT scan of the sacro-coccygeal region is used to evaluate abnormalities in the sacrum (the lower part of the spine) and coccyx (tailbone). It helps diagnose conditions such as fractures, tumors, infections, or other issues affecting the lower spine and pelvis. During the procedure, you will lie on a table while the scanner takes detailed cross-sectional images of the sacro-coccygeal area. Preparation involves removing metal objects, such as jewelry or clothing with zippers. The procedure is painless, though contrast dye may be used for clearer images. Risks include allergic reactions to contrast dye and radiation exposure. Results are interpreted by examining the images for fractures, inflammation, or other abnormalities. Afterward, you can resume normal activities.
