Blood for Microfileria
Blood for Microfilaria is a diagnostic test used to detect the presence of microfilariae, the larval form of certain parasitic worms, such as those causing filariasis (e.g., Wuchereria bancrofti, Brugia malayi). This test is important for diagnosing lymphatic filariasis, a parasitic infection transmitted by mosquitoes that can cause severe swelling, especially in the limbs. Blood is typically drawn at night (when microfilariae are most abundant in the bloodstream) and examined under a microscope for the presence of the larvae.
