MRI OF BRAIN EPILEPSY PROTOCOL
MRI of the brain with an epilepsy protocol is a specialized imaging procedure used to evaluate the brain for structural abnormalities that may be causing seizures. This protocol is tailored to identify conditions such as brain tumors, malformations, hippocampal sclerosis, or areas of scarring that could be related to epilepsy. It often involves high-resolution imaging sequences, including FLAIR (Fluid Attenuated Inversion Recovery), T1, T2, and sometimes diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), which are sensitive to subtle changes in brain tissue. A contrast dye may be injected to enhance image clarity, particularly for detecting tumors or inflammation. No special preparation is usually required, though fasting may be necessary if contrast is used. Risks are minimal, with potential allergic reactions to the contrast dye and mild discomfort from remaining still. The results help neurologists pinpoint the cause of seizures and guide treatment planning.6000 BDT8000 BDT
