Cortisol (Morning)

The Cortisol (Morning) test measures the level of cortisol in the blood or saliva in the morning, typically between 6 AM and 8 AM when cortisol levels are naturally at their highest. This peak in cortisol is part of the body's circadian rhythm and helps regulate processes like metabolism, blood pressure, and immune function. The test is commonly used to evaluate adrenal gland function and diagnose conditions such as Cushing's syndrome (high cortisol) or Addison's disease (low cortisol). Abnormal morning cortisol levels may indicate chronic stress, adrenal disorders, or pituitary problems. It is often part of a broader assessment of hormonal balance.
