Conjunctival Swab (Lt.) for Gram Stain
A Conjunctival Swab (Lt.) for Gram Stain is a test used to detect bacterial infections in the left eye's conjunctiva, the membrane lining the eyelid and covering the eyeball. A sample is collected from the conjunctival sac and then subjected to Gram staining, a laboratory technique that categorizes bacteria into two groups: Gram-positive (purple stain) and Gram-negative (pink stain). This test helps identify the causative organism in cases of conjunctivitis or other eye infections. The results can guide treatment by identifying bacterial pathogens such as Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, or Pseudomonas, and determining the appropriate antibiotic therapy.450 BDT600 BDT
