Clotting Time
Clotting Time is a test that measures the time it takes for blood to form a clot after a small sample is drawn. It is used to assess the functionality of the blood's clotting mechanisms, particularly in diagnosing bleeding disorders. The test can be performed using various methods, such as the capillary method or activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT). Prolonged clotting time can indicate coagulation disorders like hemophilia, liver disease, or the presence of anticoagulants. Conversely, a shortened clotting time might suggest hypercoagulable states like deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism. This test is often used to evaluate pre-surgical bleeding risks or to monitor patients on anticoagulant therapy.150 BDT200 BDT
