Cholesterol (Total)
Total Cholesterol refers to the overall amount of cholesterol present in the blood, which includes both low-density lipoprotein (LDL), often called ""bad cholesterol,"" and high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or ""good cholesterol,"" as well as triglycerides. The Cholesterol (Total) test is part of a routine lipid panel and is used to assess cardiovascular risk. High levels of total cholesterol, particularly high LDL levels, can lead to the build-up of plaque in the arteries, increasing the risk of heart disease, stroke, and atherosclerosis. On the other hand, higher levels of HDL cholesterol can help protect against these risks by aiding in the removal of LDL from the bloodstream. The test helps guide dietary and lifestyle changes or medication to manage cholesterol levels and prevent cardiovascular diseases.225 BDT300 BDT
