Cervical Smear Cytology for Malignant Cells
A Cervical Smear Cytology test, commonly known as a Pap smear, is a screening procedure used to detect malignant cells or precancerous changes in the cervix, which could lead to cervical cancer. During the procedure, a sample of cells is collected from the cervix and examined under a microscope for abnormal or cancerous cells. The test is particularly effective in detecting squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma in their early stages. If abnormal cells are detected, further diagnostic tests such as colposcopy or biopsy may be recommended for confirmation. The Pap smear is a vital tool in the early detection and prevention of cervical cancer, especially when performed regularly as part of routine screening.600 BDT800 BDT
