CEA
CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen) is a protein primarily used as a tumor marker to monitor certain cancers, particularly colorectal cancer. It is also elevated in other cancers like those of the pancreas, breast, lung, and stomach. Additionally, non-cancerous conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, and pancreatitis can cause increased CEA levels. The test involves measuring CEA in the blood and is used to assess the effectiveness of cancer treatment, check for recurrence, and evaluate prognosis. While useful for monitoring, it is not recommended as a screening test due to its lack of specificity.750 BDT1000 BDT
