APTT
The APTT (Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time) test measures the time it takes for blood to clot. It is used to evaluate the intrinsic pathway of the coagulation cascade and is commonly used to monitor patients on heparin therapy or to investigate bleeding disorders. The test involves adding certain chemicals to a blood sample, and measuring the time it takes for clot formation. The procedure is relatively simple and performed using a blood sample. Risks are minimal, usually limited to slight discomfort during the blood draw. Abnormal results may indicate clotting disorders or an increased risk of bleeding.638 BDT850 BDT
