Aldosterone (Upright)
The Aldosterone (Upright) Test measures the level of aldosterone in the blood while the patient is standing (upright). This test is used to assess aldosterone production in response to positional changes, as aldosterone levels naturally rise when a person stands up to help regulate blood pressure and electrolyte balance. It is commonly used to diagnose conditions like primary aldosteronism (Conn’s syndrome), adrenal tumors, or hypertension. The test requires the patient to stand for about 30 minutes before the blood sample is collected. Risks are minimal, with discomfort primarily from the blood draw. Elevated levels can suggest adrenal overactivity, while low levels may indicate adrenal insufficiency.2250 BDT3000 BDT
