Aldosterone (Supine)
The Aldosterone (Supine) Test measures the level of aldosterone, a hormone produced by the adrenal glands, in the blood while the patient is lying down (supine). Aldosterone plays a key role in regulating blood pressure, sodium, and potassium levels. This test is used to evaluate conditions such as primary aldosteronism (Conn’s syndrome), addison’s disease, or hypertension related to adrenal gland dysfunction. The patient is asked to lie down for at least 30 minutes before the blood sample is taken. The risks are minimal, mostly involving slight discomfort during the blood draw. Elevated levels can indicate overproduction of aldosterone, while low levels may suggest adrenal insufficiency.2250 BDT3000 BDT
