Brig Gen. (Retd) Prof. Nurun Nahar Fatema is a pediatric cardiologist, who has been working since 1998 to improve care for children with congenital heart disease. She has established various neonatal and structural interventions for these conditions and continually seeks to learn and innovate in her field. She has performed over 4500 cardiac interventions and 4000 diagnostic catheterizations, making significant contributions and innovations in her practice. These include the development of a protocol for treating persistent pulmonary hypertension and persistent fetal circulation, the use of balloon angioplasty to treat neonatal coarctation, device closure of large tubular PDA with pulmonary hypertension in newborns, infants and children and the use of ADO11 device for closing VSDs through a retrograde approach. She is dedicated to her work and always strive to attend international seminars to gain more knowledge and bring new innovations to her practice
