Tissue for Gram Stain
The Tissue for Gram Stain test helps identify bacterial infections in tissue samples by distinguishing bacteria into two categories: Gram-positive and Gram-negative. The process involves preparing a tissue sample, applying a Gram stain (crystal violet, iodine, alcohol, and safranin), and examining it under a microscope. No special preparation is needed, but tissue biopsy may be required. Risks include discomfort during biopsy. Results show bacterial presence and type. Infections like pneumonia or sepsis may alter results.
