Semen for Gram Stain
A semen Gram stain test is used to identify bacterial infections in semen by differentiating between Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Preparation involves collecting a semen sample, usually through masturbation. Steps include applying the semen to a slide, staining it with Gram's stain, and examining it under a microscope. Risks are minimal but may include slight discomfort during collection. Results are interpreted by observing the color and shape of bacteria; Gram-positive bacteria appear purple, while Gram-negative appear pink.
