MRI of Rectum
An MRI of the rectum is a diagnostic imaging procedure that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed images of the rectum and surrounding tissues. It is commonly used to evaluate conditions such as rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), rectal tumors, or abnormalities in the rectal wall and surrounding structures. The test may be performed with or without contrast agents to enhance image clarity. Preparation typically includes fasting for several hours before the scan. During the procedure, you will lie still in the MRI machine for about 30-45 minutes. The procedure is painless, and you can resume normal activities afterward.
