Service Providers for Wound swab for GeneXpert(MTB)

The Wound Swab for GeneXpert (MTB) test is used to detect Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB), the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis (TB), in wound infections. A sterile swab is used to collect a sample from the wound, which is then processed using the GeneXpert PCR technology. This rapid molecular test detects MTB DNA and can also test for rifampicin resistance, helping to diagnose TB and guide treatment. No special preparation is required. Risks include mild discomfort during sample collection. A positive result indicates a TB infection, while a negative result suggests no detectable MTB, though further tests may be needed.
