Service Providers for Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA)
Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA) is a hearing test used to assess an individual's ability to hear sounds at various frequencies. During the test, the patient wears headphones while listening to pure tones (beeps) at different pitches and volumes. The audiologist gradually lowers the sound level until the patient can no longer hear it, determining the quietest sound they can hear at each frequency. PTA helps diagnose the degree, type, and pattern of hearing loss. It is commonly used to assess conductive, sensorineural, or mixed hearing loss. Results are typically displayed on an audiogram, aiding in the development of an appropriate treatment plan.
