Service Providers for HBs Ag
The HBsAg test detects the Hepatitis B surface antigen, a protein on the surface of the Hepatitis B virus (HBV), to determine if an individual is infected. It is used to diagnose both acute and chronic HBV infections or screen for infection in high-risk individuals. A blood sample is drawn from a vein, and no special preparation is needed. A positive result indicates HBV infection, while a negative result suggests no infection or recovery. The test is safe with minimal risks, such as slight bruising. Results guide further evaluation, including additional tests to assess liver health and determine the need for treatment.
