Service Providers for ALT (SGPT)
ALT (Alanine Aminotransferase), also known as SGPT (Serum Glutamate Pyruvate Transaminase), is an enzyme found mainly in the liver. It plays a key role in metabolizing amino acids. The ALT test is used to assess liver function and diagnose liver damage or diseases like hepatitis, fatty liver disease, or cirrhosis. Elevated ALT levels can indicate liver injury or inflammation. The test is performed using a blood sample, and the risks are minimal, generally limited to mild discomfort during the blood draw. Higher ALT levels suggest liver damage, while normal levels indicate healthy liver function.
